Printing Instructions:
Build a deck of cards by collecting them at my shows, printing them from my website, or by sending me an email for special sets of cards.
Some cards will only be available at live shows, so make sure to ask me for any new cards, and some will only be available through email, so have your parents
email me for those.
To print cards from my website, use business card paper, available at your local office supply store. I use Avery cards #8877, they print with a nice, clean edge that makes them easy to play with.
Once you have assembled a deck, get your friends together to play!
The Storytelling Game
Object:
The object of the game is to collect as many cards as possible by telling a story using elements from the cards in your hand.
Begin:
Shuffle the deck, then deal each player three to five cards. Place the remaining cards, in a stack, face down in the center of the table.
Select a player to be the first storyteller.
Play:
The storyteller starts the game by telling a story. Whenever he mentions an element represented by a card in his hand, he places the card face up in front of him and draws another card from the deck.
Interrupting:
If the storyteller mentions something in his story that is on another player's card, that player may interrupt by playing that card and continuing the story.
Also, if the storyteller pauses for more than a few seconds, another player may take over by playing a card and resuming the story using the element on that card.
Ending the story:
Once all the cards have been drawn from the deck, the active storyteller must play all the cards remaining in his hand and bring the story to a logical conclusion. Another player may interrupt the storyteller before the end by playing a card, but then he must play all of his cards before ending the story, and he may also be interrupted.
Winning:
Once the story has come to an end, each player counts their face-up cards and subtracts any cards remaining in their hand. The player with the highest total wins.
But, everyone's a winner because they all got to hear a great story.
